Our brief

Popular fashion retailer, Next, came to us to explore a redevelopment in their existing office building. Comprised of four storeys, the building needed to be restructured from the ground up and refitted with a more stable superstructure for long term future use.

Through the redevelopment, we introduced a new steelwork superstructure, with additional full height feature glazing on the front elevation. We founded the structure on piled foundations, utilising a suspended ground floor slab as a secure and stable response to unfavourable sub-soil conditions.

All of the upper floors were comprised of precast concrete floor planks, with a raised access zone for computer services.
To accommodate for HVAC equipment, we established a full-length roof mounted plant deck, allowing for regulated and high-quality ventilation away from the main offices and public spaces. We also installed new steel framed stair towers at each end of the building for easy and convenient use of access.
